London Latin DJ
DJ Jose Luis is a Venezuelan-born DJ, producer, and music industry professional who
is widely recognized as a pioneer of reggaeton in the UK and has played a crucial role in introducing the genre to British audiences. Based in London for over 20 years, in addition to DJing in venues all over the world, he produced the city’s first reggaeton clubnight at Ministry of Sound, which was franchised to Pacha, Ibiza, South Africa and Hong Kong.
Jose Luis started some of London's most innovative club nights, including the currently hugely succesful weekly Viva Reggaeton at Lightbox. He is artistic director of the UK's biggest latin music festival, LatinoLife in the Park, co-founder of LatinoLife media, (the UK's leading Latin media) The LUKAS (Europe's only Latin Entertainment Awards), LoLaMC (The London Latin Music Conference) and owns Reggaeton.co.uk
In addition to his work as a DJ, Jose Luis is also a producer and founding director of Candela Records, the UK’s first ever Urban Latin music label, in partnership with Atlantic Records. He is responsible for overseeing the label's roster of artists, helping to identify new talent from the UK-Latin artistic community, which he has dedicated years to nurturing.
As a passionate advocate for his community and culture, and a role model for young Latinos in London, Jose Luis’ contributions have been widely recognized and celebrated, and he remains one of the most influential figures in the Latin music community in the UK. His insights and expertise are valued by colleagues and UK music industry peers and media “Jose Luis has his fingers on the pulse of Latin culture in the UK,” says Trenton Harrison-Lewis, SVP, ADA and Warner Music UK. “Together we will find incredible new talent that will shine on the global stage.”
