Jose Luis, a life in music

DJ Jose Luis is one of London’s most influential Latin DJs, promoters, and cultural curators, pioneering the city’s urban Latin sound for over two decades. Originally from Venezuela, he has been instrumental in bringing reggaeton, Latin house, salsa, and global club rhythms to international audiences long before they hit the mainstream.

Founder of LatinoLife and Artistic Director of LatinoLife in the Park — the UK’s largest Latin music festival — he has performed at major events worldwide, from Glastonbury and Notting Hill Carnival to Pacha Ibiza and Ministry of Sound, where he launched the iconic club night La Bomba.

He has worked with acts across the full Latin music spectrum, from legends like Eddie Palmieri and Louie Vega to global superstars such as Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón, remaining at the forefront of Latin music in the UK.

A passionate advocate for the growth of Latin music in Europe, Jose Luis has been invited for the past two years to speak on international panels about the rise of Latin culture and the creative economy in Europe and the diaspora. His encyclopedic knowledge of Latin music and its evolution in Europe has taken him to global events such as Feira Preta (Brazil) and other leading music industry conferences across the UK and Latin America.

In recent years, he has masterminded London’s biggest weekly Latin club night — Viva Reggaeton — now celebrating its 5th anniversary, and expanded the brand with Viva Baile and Viva Pop, bringing together over 1,000 people every weekend in a celebration of Latin music and culture.

Through his collaborations with PRS Foundation, British Council, and Arts Council England, he continues to build bridges between the UK and Latin America, championing the next generation of UK-Latino artists and expanding the global reach of Latin music.
